FAQs

Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Roller Shades are also known as screen shades, and are very popular for commercial and residential applications. They let you see the outside while offering privacy and sun protection. The tighter the weaves on the fabric, the less you can see and the more protection you get from your solar screen roller shades. Solar Screen Fabrics provide UV protection, reduce glare, maintain view-through; range of openness from 0%–14%. They can be used and mounted indoor and outdoor.

Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Roller Shades are one of the best options in window coverings. They work in both a residential and commercial setting. A very popular solution when you have a home with a nice city or ocean, because the openness factor will let you see through and you want to get UV protection.

Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Roller Shades can fit regular rectangular windows, bay windows, corner windows and bow windows. Panels are independent of one another.

Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Roller Shades can be used indoor and outdoor. Specifically designed to endure the harsh outside elements – wind, heat and cold.

There are several ways you can operate your Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Roller Shades:

Motorized system: you can move your solar roller shades according to your set schedules. Operate automated roller shades with your tablet, smartphone, remote, or voice command.
Duolite®: The system combines two separate fabrics, the front layer is sheer light filtering, and the back layer is room darkening. Operated in a single shade. Available in both manual and motorized operation.
UltraGlide®: Features a single retractable cord or wand. The cord and wand always remains a constant length when raising and lowering your solar roller shade. With no long, dangling cords, UltraGlide® offers enhanced child and pet safety.
LiteRise®: This system lets you operate your solar screen roller shades by simply pushing up or pulling down with your hand.
SoftTouch™: This battery-powered system allows for quick touch-and-go functionality. Move your screen roller shades by gently pulling down or pushing up on the wand. No more tangled up cords. Ideal option for homes with pets and children.
Continuous Cord Loop: Opt for the clutch-operated continuous cord loop that works on the principle of a pulley, rotating a clutch to raise or lower the solar shade.
Cordless: A traditional spring-assisted system is hidden inside the headrail offers fuss-free, cordless operation for your solar roller shades.
Dual Roller: Hunter Douglas Dual Roller Shades feature two different fabrics that operate independently, providing many options for design, light control and privacy.

Screen Duolite® shades have a sheer fabric as the front layer and a room-darkening liner as the back layer. The liner and shade are all within the same tube and the same large square cassette. The liner cannot be operated separately from the decorative fabric. Dual Roller Shades offer two shades built into the same top treatment, each with independent operation. Dual Roller is best to use when there’s sufficient mounting depth available. It is suggested to use a Fabric Valance over the Dual Roller bracket option to cover the large size bracket. Dual Roller has limited sizes and many excluded fabrics.

Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Roller Shades offer the flexibility in your choice of top treatment, fabric selection and the bottom rail styles. With each top treatment they are different operating systems available. You can control your solar shades manually by hand or automatically by remote, phone, tablet, app, or voice command. Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Roller Shades are designed with child safety in mind, with their cord-free aesthetically pleasing selection.

Roller shades and solar shades are the exact same shade but just different fabrics options are available. The solar shade fabric is made of a special material that can protect you against the sun, fading and get UV protection. They are typically made from PVC, fiberglass and poly. Solar shade fabrics come in different openness factors, these are the most popular: 10%, 5%, 3%, 1%, 0%. The bigger the percent the more you can see through the shade. Solar shades are very popular for outdoor spaces with a great view.
